Buy Policy

Used equipment and clothing buying is ONLY available in our retail location.

Second Ascent is well known in the Puget Sound region as the place to go to buy, sell and trade good quality used outdoor equipment and clothing. Since opening our doors in Ballard in 2001, we continue to expand our selection of new equipment from a wide variety of the best brands in the industry, as well as maintaining a fresh selection of closeouts, samples, and quality used gear.

Here's How It Works:

Just bring in your used items anytime between 11am and 6pm, and one of our buyers will have a look and make you an offer.

We only buy gear for store credit.  Store credit does not expire.

With items presented for trade, we offer roughly 50% of the price that we will put on the item. Trade value may be applied to purchases immediately, or it can be issued as a store credit (for merchandise only) for use at a later date.

We never give estimates over the phone.

Due to space limitations, we buy some items only seasonally. For example, used ski packages don’t work so well for us in July.  We may ask you to bring things back at a different time of the year. If you are thinking of bringing in items on the fringe of the season, it is best to give us a call before you make the trip to our store.

Privacy & Terms of Service

Second Ascent is dedicated to maintaining all customer information in secured databases. We are sincere in providing an ecommerce site that respects the privacy of its customers. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology is installed on pages that involve sensitive information. SSL is supported by the majority of Internet browsers. It is the most commonly employed method of secure, encrypted communication used on the Internet.
